BIOGRAPHY

Born in 1995, Changsha, Hunan. She studied composition at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music under Prof.Lu Pei (BA). She has completed her postgraduate degree at the Hochschule für Musik Freiburg under Prof. Brice Pauset. After graduating with full marks, she pursued a doctorate in performance (Konzertexamen).

She is a composer with a background as a performer. Her works are fun and soulful, with the intention of finding a combination of new music and language, incorporating her native language, Hunan dialect (Hunanese), as an instrument in her works.

She has been studying voice, dance and piano since the age of 4. She started writing songs at a young age, and has been formally studying composition since high school. Since 2003, she has performed in South Korea, Japan, Austria and many other countries for cultural exchange, and as a young singer in CCTV several times, also performed as a pianist at the Großer Saal in Vienna. 

 

Dozens of children's songs she composed in elementary school were published in chinese music professional magazines such as Broadcast Music Choice and Music Education and Composition.

Her songs used in the production of the Chinese children's animation series and distributed worldwide by Shanmao Cartoon Pictures. Also won the second prize in the 2nd Hunan Campus Original Song Competition in 2005 as the youngest participant; the second prize in the China Youth Arts Festival Original Composition Song Contest; and the second prize of 'Golden Melody' of the propaganda department of Hunan Provincial Committee in 2007, and was broadcasted on China CCTV children's channel.

During her studies at the university, she has been mentored by many composers, including Tristan Murail, Bernd Redmann, Xiaoyong Chen, Chengbi An, Lisa Lim, Xianglin Chou, Deqing Wen, etc. She also cooperated with many musicians including: Moscow Modern Ensemble, Four Corners Ensemble, Ligeti Quartet, Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra, Shanghai Opera House, Suzhou Symphony Orchestra, Liang Zhang, Peter Tilling,Sophie Deshayes,Virginie Tarrête,László Hudacsek,Hans Kretz, etc. 

Her works has been performed in China, Germany, France, Italy, Japan and many other countries. Also won the excellent Prize in the Adult Category of the 2016-2017 Young Composers Competition and an invitation to music festival in the USA; the excellent prize of the 1st Shanghai Conservatory of Music 'Academy Cup' Competition and the third prize of the 2nd 'Hui Chuang Qing Chun' Shanghai University Students' Cultural and Creative Works Competition; the second prize at the 14th International Composition Competition Dunn, Serbia; through the Shanghai Conservatory of Music's Outstanding Student 'Yin Cai Zhu Fei' program, she held a concert of her solo works in 2018; the second prize in the adult category of VII International Piano Competition Smederevo 2020; the special award at the Japan Ise-Shima International Composition Competition; the second award at the 31st Italy Young Musician International Competition 'Città di Barletta’.

In 2023 she was selected as composer-in-residence for the Lithuanian music festival ‘ContemPLAY’ and performed as a special guest at the concert for the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Germany.
