An Obsession I can’t contain for String Quartet (2020)

“Perhaps it is true that we do not really exist until there is someone there to see us existing, we cannot properly speak until there is someone there who can understand what we are saying, in essence, we are not wholly alive until we are loved.”
—— Alain de Botton, Essays in Love(2004)
As a young person still discovering the myriad possibilities of this world, I've never known how to describe love, the uncaused and pervasive fascination. I was curious about the origin of love, the shape of love, the meaning of love. I imagined that it was just some kind of substance produced by the stimulation of brainwaves in my brain, stretching into an endless stream of what we call, “love".
This piece comes from the first part of my "Love Trilogy", where I try to describe in a linear way the inner fluctuations and even more pictorially, the shape of people's brain waves when they meet the one they love. The beginning of love for me is always the moment of "Crush", and this "Crush" has a different definition for everyone, just like my purpose of creating this piece, leaving the listener with unlimited imagination.
